RENDER

3d print model finished but i don't think it is good coz many parts cracked due to the thin thickness. I am not satisfied with my model. rendering is in process.
Thanks for advices.

colour combinations

Hi Florencia,
I have been trying out some different ways to combine the colours. I am not sure about the black window frames anymore though. The red facade is very red, I don't mind using it but I want to find a way to break it up more.

I quite like the white, double windowframes, with the outer one being matte and the inner frame glossy.

Here is trying to work with a pale, pale white-pink gradient on the facade instead.

At the moment I am working on detailing the windows more, will show that tomorrow.

Rendering

Hi Florencia,

This is what I am doing right now:

interior view one

interior view two (needs more detailaing of bookshelves)

detail one (hdr-rend)

detail 2 (phys. sun and sky) - more mulleans are needed

top view

tested color on windows..but liked it better with 'normal'

 Bird view

south entrance (doors need to be modelled and glass in right window)
The mulleins to the left in the small window (ground level) are the level of detail which will be in the "over all", in the 'detail 2' render I will modell them.

north entrance - prefer this to the one above.

I like the white-purple-gold colors, although the interior need definition.
Let me know if you have any suggestions

Renderings in Process

Hi Florencia,
I already paid for my model and it will be ready either thursday or friday.

I've been finishing up the mullions, I'm still not done with them, but I wanted to show you some renderings of the colored rose windows.  I put a bump map on them and it seems to give more depth and make them stand out more.  With all the rendering tests I've done, I really feel that the building should remain white instead of dark gray.  I feel it goes better with the colors and makes them stand out more.  The gray, even if i darken it, seems to wash the building out too much, whereas the white mental ray material gives more shadow and depth.  I did some rough renderings of one of the windows with the dark gray vs the white.  I hope you agree!

sections

These are my sections from Friday. It looks different now as I have started over, but I am trying to use a similar method in adding program space into the volumes. I needed to start over because I wanted to address the relationship between the facade and the interior more clearly and I want the two to begin to influence each other more.

section

Hi Florencia,
I try to define some floors without separating the whole mass into several segments! Still working on differentiating some programs in this model.

Revised Sections

Hi Florencia,

I changed the floor plates and made them more interactive with the book stacks and reading rooms to encourage a smoother flow.  There's more mezzanine and double height spaces within the reading rooms and stacks.   I also did some renderings, I don't know why the sky is rendering a gray line, but I'm still working on it.  The changes I'm making inside are changing the geometry of the facade, it responds to the program better.  I'll show you what I mean in studio Monday because the renderings aren't showing it here.

Hi Florencia,
I'm tring to extend the existing form to extrude some floors and make it looks like
growing from the existing object.

trying to find a good balance between bubbly and not-too-bubbly. the narrower facade needs more stuff on it, also i want to do more on the roof, but i think that will come once i have decided more on the programme.

here's a section through it, with some main sphere spaces, will also place "normal spaces inside.

Rough Sections

Enclosed reading rooms

Hi Florencia,
Here are some rough sections and 2 perspectives of the interior floors.  It's still a work in progress.  I changed the entrance to the corner location and changed part of the geometry as a result. I color coated the program and am still working on it.  I also included some perspectives, although they do not show all of the detail.
