sections

These are my sections from Friday. It looks different now as I have started over, but I am trying to use a similar method in adding program space into the volumes. I needed to start over because I wanted to address the relationship between the facade and the interior more clearly and I want the two to begin to influence each other more.

section

Hi Florencia,
I try to define some floors without separating the whole mass into several segments! Still working on differentiating some programs in this model.

Revised Sections

Hi Florencia,

I changed the floor plates and made them more interactive with the book stacks and reading rooms to encourage a smoother flow.  There's more mezzanine and double height spaces within the reading rooms and stacks.   I also did some renderings, I don't know why the sky is rendering a gray line, but I'm still working on it.  The changes I'm making inside are changing the geometry of the facade, it responds to the program better.  I'll show you what I mean in studio Monday because the renderings aren't showing it here.

Hi Florencia,
I'm tring to extend the existing form to extrude some floors and make it looks like
growing from the existing object.

trying to find a good balance between bubbly and not-too-bubbly. the narrower facade needs more stuff on it, also i want to do more on the roof, but i think that will come once i have decided more on the programme.

here's a section through it, with some main sphere spaces, will also place "normal spaces inside.

Rough Sections

Enclosed reading rooms

Hi Florencia,
Here are some rough sections and 2 perspectives of the interior floors.  It's still a work in progress.  I changed the entrance to the corner location and changed part of the geometry as a result. I color coated the program and am still working on it.  I also included some perspectives, although they do not show all of the detail.

modelling interior

Hi Florencia,

I am extruding the interior spacing according to the needed functions. Very rough right now, trying different connection between the spaces. I want the folds in the xtruded surfaces to become the floors at some parts.

In therms of the overall hierarcy, I think I'm making too many extrutions of the same size, so I have to figure out a way to make it look more controlled.

I separately composed different boards of my layouts so i don't have an overall snapshot jpeg. Here is the top board with concepts inside.

painting model

will go with a range of green to turqoise/light purple in the window faces

fixing colors and layout

Finnishing the boards.. one question - the coloring of the window faces looks a bit uncontrolled, should i just go with one variation of a color in each section (ie corner window all reds, left window all blue) or just go with variations of ONE color (ie green to turquise) in all of the sections?

ongoing model coloring

Hi Florencia,
This is my ongoing model coloring. I create some areas to apply the radiant colors of my previous drawing; besides raising much contrast. There will be more golden color lines painted on the model to define several important detailed frames in my design.

My board as of date. I will be adding text to the 'concept' area as well as my model photo on Monday. The line weights may look odd on this pdf, however they are all accounted for in Illustrator.
